With the Pre-configuration of keys feature, you can configure a set of phone keys at specific line locations on the phone for accessing features, applications, line appearances, or auto-dialing. You can label configured keys as required.
However, Avaya™ highly recommends using Avaya Aura® System Manager to pre-configure keys for features, line appearances, or auto-dialing. To avoid encountering errors, use the PHONEKEY parameter only to pre-configure keys for applications.
Pre-configuration of keys is set up for a user or a group of users. The settings apply to all the phones that the user or group use.
You can configure forced or non-forced values for the PHONEKEY parameter. If you select a forced value, the user cannot modify it using the phone interface, and you can modify it only in the 46xxsettings.txt file. If you do not select the forced value, the user can change key mapping and labels as required, overriding the configuration that the system administrator set.
Note:
In the Avaya Aura® environment, use Avaya Aura® System Manager to pre-configure all line and custom keys, including call appearances, features, and automatic dials. Do not use the PHONEKEY parameter to configure line or custom keys.
Using customization modes, you can limit or block the ability of a user to customize their phone screen.
The Pre-configuration of keys feature can be configured in either of the following ways:
It is recommended to configure this feature using the 46xxsettings.txt file and use Forced parameter values for Avaya Aura®.
Note:
The Pre-configuration of keys feature does not support all Avaya Aura® Call Center Elite features.
The IP Office environment does not support the Pre-configuration of keys feature.
