You can create a static .xml directory file and add or update contacts. During reboot or periodic updates, the phone downloads the .xml directory file from the provisioning server to the flash memory. Users can select the directory in the Contacts application to use the contacts list.
PREREQUISITE
Ensure that the .xml directory contains a minimum of one contact.
  1. Enter the contact details in the .xml file. You must add the data is in the predefined syntax.
  2. Save the .xml file on the file server.
  3. Do one of the following:
    ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
    • In the 46xxsettings.txt file, update the URL of the .xml file in the DOWNLOADABLE_DIRECTORY parameter.
    • In the web interface, under Settings > Downloadable Directory File Name, enter the .xml file name.
  4. Reboot the phone.
Result
In the Contacts application, the latest directory contacts are available when the user selects the directory.
